dominical private tours

Are you ready for a little spill of adrenaline? Then go take a ride on a zip line, hike in the jungle & climb a majestic Matapalo tree. Go horseback riding in the mountains. Wow there is not a more biologically diverse place on earth & you can get face to face with nature. These tours & hikes can be done in day or half day trips. The guides will point out wildlife you would not have otherwise seen. Tour guides afford the element of safety and ensure that your trip will be complete.

Here are some ideas for having fun in Dominical, Uvita & Ojochal, go see Baru National Wildlife Refuge only 1 KM north of Dominical, try a Dolphin Boat Tour from Uvita or go snorkeling with an outfitter. They will take you to Cano Island Biological Reserve. Manuel Antonio National Park is also not far. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. It will make a difference in your life & you will have a vacation to remember forever.Costa Rican family run & owned business supports the local economy directly. Excellent English spoken - these locals grew up here & know the BEST places!Hacienda Barú?s 330 hectares (815 acres) have a fantastic variety of habitats, from wetland and secondary forest in the lowlands to primary forest on the highland coastal ridge. Seven Km of walking trails and 3 Km of pristine beach are here to be explored, as well as an orchid garden and butterfly garden. Waterfalls, waterfalls & more waterfalls. You can hike in to see waterfalls, climb to see waterfalls & horseback ride to waterfalls. Are you getting the picture here! Waterfalls abound in this area. It is always better to hire a guide or take a tour, which include guides. You will see more & get an education at the same time. These guides are in tune with nature in this area & are familiar with the habits of the local critters. Take a sun hat and some sunscreen and go out & get wet. Of course there are other things to do besides waterfalls. Like horseback ride through the hills, go see the cool critters at Reptilandia (they have a Komodo dragon), or go canyoneering, hiking, kayaking, rappelling, surfing, canopy tours... You can hike all over the place here. But if you want to see more & experience the jungle take a guide. They are out every day and know where certain habitats are and the back yards of these critters. You can get biologists, naturalists & bird experts to take you out. You will have better birding experiences, see more wildlife and a better tour all in all with a guide. For tours such as waterfall rappelling, tree climbing, etc, you will definitely need a guide unless you haul all your own equipment and are very experienced. Even so still take a guide- after all they know where all the best spots are! Your experience will be richer for having one of these guides go hiking with you. And besides they will haul the binoculars, gear and lunch! TAKE A GUIDE. You’ll be glad you did. You must be sure to go to Baru National Wildlife Refuge. It is only 1KM north of Dominical and was created from a 330-hectare (815 acre) private preserve at Hacienda Barú. It protects three km of beach plus mangrove swamp and at least 40 hectares of primary rainforest: a safe haven for anteaters, ocelots, kinkajous, tayras, capuchin monkeys, and jaguarundis. More than 310 bird species have been recorded: roseate spoonbills, magnificent frigate birds, boat-billed herons, kingfishers, curassows, falcons, cormorants, anhingas, and owls, among others. Olive ridley and hawksbill turtles come ashore to nest at Playa Barú. Trails ($3 pp access fee) lead through pasture, fruit orchards, cacao plantations, and forest. More than a dozen petroglyphs carved onto large rocks are the most obvious remains of what may be an ancient ceremonial site.

There’s a canopy tour observation platform suspended 100 feet up, and guided tree-climbing is offered in either a bosun’s chair with a winch or using rappelling equipment. You can rent horses. A series of guided hikes include “A Night in the Jungle” that ends at a fully equipped jungle tent camp where you can spend the night. There are also kayak tours of the mangrove. Local children have a “Save the Ridley Turtle” program; a nursery raises turtle hatchlings. This is a place you cannot miss!
